Music industry vultures are circling for producer’s successful new wave style

KrizBeatz has a small window to pursue his craft and benefit from it. The vultures have already begun to circle.

When Krizbeatz stumbled on his current production formula, he must have heaved a huge sigh of relief. His was a new sound, which no one has explored at the mainstream level. And to make things special, the industry was ready for him.
That's why his work with Tekno on ‘Pana’ sound-tracked the second half of 2016, and accelerated the shift in the changing sound patterns of pop music and the producers from Lagos.
“I made the beat in thirty minutes,” he told Vanguard. “I already had the beat before Tekno jumped on it. The beat was for someone else, but the person said he didn’t like the beat that it’s not hard.’’
“Tekno came into the studio while I was making the beat, so he heard it and asked if I could talk to the guy so he could have it. I did and the guy said no problem that he could take it.”

That was the genesis of his success wave. Everyone envied his work, and I have producers telling me that they have been working hard at studying his work and replicating it.
Del’B and Tspize cracked it wide open on ‘Mad Over You’, Tekno after benefitting from it on ‘Pana’, took his surgical blade to it, and came up with Davido’s ‘If’. On his next solo record, ‘Yawa’, he is still adhering to the principles of that beat, but this time the formula was supplied by Masterkraft.
A professional producer with a degree in the bag, Krizbeatz specializes in beat-making, recording, song arrangement, harmonizing and even writing. His first major break came in 2015, when he worked on Jahbless’s ‘Owambe’. He has also worked with Ruggedman, Reminisce, OlamideSeriki and Oladips.
His current clientele include Skales, who is leaning heavily on him for production on his forthcoming album “The Never Say Never Guy.” He is also on the production team for Tekno’s promised debut album.
Skales recent hit song, ‘Temper’, and the remix with Burna Boy were also from him.

But he is under threat. The Nigerian music industry is 99% vultures and 1% creators. The creators make the innovation, and generate new material for the space. The vultures converge on the new material, and begin to create knock-offs and spin-offs for themselves.
“A lot of people are working on my style right now,” KrisBeatz tells me. “But no matter what they do, when people here it, they still understand that I am the pioneer.”
The key thing for Krizbeatz right now is to cash in on his template while he still hot, before it is cracked wide by everyone, and sold to the highest bidders. He has begun already. His latest single ‘Erima’, features Davido and Tekno. (Two superstars who have benefited from his skill.)
The video has been released, and there are plans for an album in the works. The project will have acts drawn from different levels of fame and skill. Tekno, Skales, Reminisce, Niniola and Timaya will all be on the project.

In the end, KrizBeatz has a small window to pursue his craft and benefit from it. And he is working hard at cashing out with his gift. The vultures are circling and coming at his music fast.
