For 37 years, Robert Mugabe had a tight grip on power in Zimbabwe and refused to step down until he was detained by the military early this week and his former vice president was made the interim president.
Over the 37 years that he was president, Mugabe was accused of a lot, including genocide and embezzling public funds, while impoverishing his people. The wealth amassed during that period was able to get him a 25-bedroom mansion in Borrowdale, an affluent suburb of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare. The mansion is fit for a king and that's where he's presently being held under house arrest.
